We are committed to creating the most positive dental experience for your children! We strive to make all children feel safe in our office. We use a combination of care and child psychology to treat your children with skill and respect.
How we treat your child:
At Preminger Pediatric Dentistry, children and their pearly whites are our passion! We don’t believe in child restraint and would never force any child to do anything they don’t feel comfortable with. We strive for each child to have a safe and fun experience in our office. Whether that is having fun with Mr. Thirsty (the water spout) or taking cool X-Rays to show your teeth on the big computer screens! Each visit is unique for each child while also being educational for the child, siblings and parents!
Parents are always welcome and encouraged to join their children during exams, cleanings and treatment appointments. Here at Preminger Pediatric Dentistry we have nothing to hide! We are great at what we do and besides, why would we keep the fun just for the kids!?
When to begin seeing your dentist
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends children are seen by a pediatric dentist by the age of one! There are many reasons to start early:
- It is never too early to start caring for your child’s teeth
- It is never too early to educate yourself and your child about the health of your mouth
- It’s never too early to start a life-long relationship with your dentist!
According to the Foundation of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry :
- Over 40% – 50% of children will be affected by tooth decay before age 5.
- A trip to the emergency room for crisis care is the first “dental visit” for over 25% of children seen in a children’s hospital.
- Of the 4 million children born each year, more than half will have cavities by the time they reach second grade.
Why a pediatric office over a general office?
Pediatric Dentists are the “Pediatricians” of the mouth! You take your child to a specialty doctor when they are sick, why would you not let a similar specialty doctor help your child’s mouth?! Pediatric dentists are trained to teach parents and children how to prevent cavities and promote great oral health right from the beginning. Kids need a kids’ dentist! Our extra training makes us the perfect fit for you and your children to begin their dental education!
All pediatric dentists receive two to three years of specialty training after dental school in treating children and individuals with special needs. This makes pediatric dentists uniquely qualified to provide the most appropriate and cost effective dental care for your family!
Since we have extra training and specialize in children’s dental health everyday, we are even more qualified! We only see infants, children and teens, we love them all and we choose to work with only them… day in and day out! We understand and are trained to handle unique dental issues and concerns that go hand in hand with your infant growing up and each stage of life/growth.
We speak KID! Not only is your child having fun, but we are too! Yes, we have silly names for our tools, we have fun games we play and we also use a special language to communicate with your child and you as the parent. Come see for yourself!
